Descriptive notes.In most taxonomic lists Hume's Warbler is treated as a subspecies of P. inornatus. However, who have studied the two forms, believe them to be separate species, based on primary morphological differences, not only do their calls and songs differ, but so do their respective habitats and breeding distributions. Hume's Warbler, marginally larger thanP. inornatus, sometimes lacking full supercilium and even vestiges of front wing-bar and pale tertial-fringes. Legs darker than in P. inornatus, olive-to umber toned. Habitat.In Himalayas mountain breeding zones up to 3000 m. In birch forest above conifer fores, descending in winter below 1500 m to dry deciduous forest, scrub, groves, gardens, and orchards, foraging high in trees as well as low in bushes.Food and FeedingInsects and A few other invertebrates.Breeding.May-Jun in Tien Shan and Altai, 4-7 eggs, sub-elliptical smooth and glossy. Incubation 11-13 days.Movements.Migratory. Winters in Pakistan and Himalayan foothills, E to Sikkim and Bangladesh and widespread in Indian plains.Status and ConservationNot globally threatened.Israel.In Israel subspecies P. h. humei accidental, mainly in Eilat. |
