Euodice malabarica E Arabia E to Indian subcontinent | ||||||||||
Descriptive notes.Similar in size to European Serin.Upperpars, pale brown head, wings and back with a strikingly white rump and black tail. Underparts: greyish throat and belly. Bill grey, short and deep based. Both were probably adults, as the rump was clean white, with no indication of any brownish coloration.No calls were heard. HabitatNeighnouring desert and semi-desert regions. Chiefly in patches of grassland and sparse scrub, often in cultivated groves with shrubby undergrowth.Food and FeedingDiet: Millet, rice, canary grass seed and other small seeds, grit and cuttlebone.Breeding.None information at the moment.Movements.No further information.Status and ConservationNot globally threatened.Israel.In Israel subspecies: Euodice malabarica scarce local resident in low-lying eastern sector, including the Arava, Dead Sea Depression, Jordan River and Bet Shean Valleys and Sea of Galilee area. |
